A message from our Founder:

Welcome to our New Hope Academy website.

Here at New Hope Academy, we provide learners, whose varying needs could not be met in other education placements, with a chance to have a sense of belonging within a school environment where they can thrive.

All our learners are at the heart of everything we do at New Hope Academy and each learner is valued and respected as an important member of the school community. ‘Every child matters, Every moment counts’.

Our small school is passionate about the holistic development of the learner and understands that unless learners have their social and emotional needs met they are unable to learn. The school offers a safe and caring therapeutic learning environment. This calm and nurturing environment helps our learners develop the confidence to take risks and discover their skills and aspirations. An open and reflective culture is encouraged for both staff and pupils in order to learn from experience and help grow together.

It is my privilege to be part of such a beautiful, warm school and feel extremely proud of the efforts and achievements of all our learners, parents, therapists and dedicated staff who make it so special.

How we work

• A strict policy of maximum of 10 learners per class with individualized attention in mind.
• Learners are placed based on their functioning level
• English as a medium of instruction
• Curriculum is tailored to meet each learner’s needs
• CAPS curriculum is followed and watered down to meet the child’s needs
• Learners can be returned to mainstream school should progress be noticeable
• Learners above age 12 and with moderate to severe intellectual disability can be placed in the skills class for vocational training
